Bo Menkiti Selected for Inc.com’s “30 under 30″ coolest entrepreneurs list!

The Menkiti Group, one of Washington D.C.’s fastest growing residential real estate and community development organizations, is proud to announce that its founder, Bo Menkiti, has been selected for Inc.com’s annual “30 Under 30: America’s Coolest Young Entrepreneurs” list, their yearly profile of the top 30 rising entrepreneurs in the country. The profile can be read at Inc.com’s website at www.inc.com/30under30/2007/the-home-maker.html.
“It is a privilege to have our company acknowledged for its values-based approach to revitalizing underserved neighborhoods in our nation’s capital. It is also an honor to be recognized with such innovative and forward thinking entrepreneurs”, said Bo Menkiti.

Bo was selected for this honor because of his unique business model, which incorporates real estate and social entrepreneurism. Through the establishment of a family of synergistic yet separate companies, Bo has been able to build new homes, reach out to middle income buyers, and influence the creation of vibrant affordable communities. Since founding The Menkiti Group in 2004, the company has developed over 33,000 square feet of middle income residential and neighborhood-based commercial property. The Group has also brokered the sale of over $60 million in real estate much of it to first time buyers. The company operates at the intersection between the private sector and the public good. Menkiti describes it as a “for-profit business with a social purpose.”

Inc.com also highlights the Menkiti Group Sales Team’s approach of using a salary based compensation system, which gives his agents the incentive to give each client the same quality and care regardless of the value of the transaction. The team’s innovative approach has gained national recognition in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal and was honored by Realtor Magazine in 2006 for its success in real estate sales and dedication to Washington D.C.’s urban renewal. When asked about his goals for continued growth in both sales and development, Menkiti said, “I look forward to fine-tuning our model in D.C. and eventually expanding into other urban markets nationwide.”
